The top 8 of MTN Spotlight S3 was announced on Sunday’s episode, voted by the voters and it saw the end of Banele Tfusi and Bong’musa Mtjali on the show.
The remaining contestants took to the stage to perform popular house and dance songs.
And with the judges expecting 100% from the contestants, it was Nonjabulo Magagula, Sanele Mkhwanazi, Simphiwe Mnisi who seemed to live up the judges’ expectations.
Sanele Mkhwanazi gave his rendition of Mi Casa “Mamela”, with Karly B saying “I could listen to your voice the whole day. You are one of the strongest people we have vocally”.
His sentiments were echoed by Ndumiso Dlamini who was pleased with his vocals and his stage presence. “Vocally you did lovely, today you were here”.
Nonjabulo performed Black Coffee ft Bucie “You turn Me On”, with comedian Mdura who was the guest judge saying that he was impressed by the fact that she didn’t have to move all around the stage for her stage presence to be felt but her facial expression gave them that.
Velemseni was happy with her performance, however, she wished Nonjabulo could have done more. “I feel like when you choose a song that says, you turn me on, you wanna go like all the way with it”
Another, who got great remarks, was Simphiwe Mnisi singing ‘Subconsciously’ by Black Coffee ft Sabrina Claudio, and won over all the judges.
Ndumiso said she has something special and her voice is unique, while Velemseni said she did justice to the song.
This week, another 2 will bite the dust leaving 6 to shine on the “Spotlight” stage.
