- Would you say you are where you planned to be in your music career?
Making music gives me hope, a sense of belonging, music fulfils me. I can being the studio all day and not even get hungry, nor bored or tired, that is how I am deeply attracted and attached. I am to the idea of creating. That’s what kept me going when things didn’t go my way and still keeps me going to present date.
- In your new music trailer you posted on your social pages. You talk about your struggles, growing up with nothing. What motivated you to not give up and keep on hustling?
I wouldn’t say I am where I want to be, I still feel like I still have got so much to offer and this is just the beginning.
- You also say that people used to call you names, like being called ‘’Nigga’’. What advice would you share to young rising hip-hop artist in the country on how to deal with negativity surrounding them?
I would advise them to know who they are, know what they want and know their target audience because sometimes presenting to the wrong audience can kill your self-esteem.
- Who do you look up to in the entertainment industry?
I look up to Sbu Leope famously known as Dj Sbu. I feel like I relate to his story and feel like its not far-fetched from where I stand.
- What kind of mark are you hoping to make in the country, as a hip-hop artist?
I just wanna show all the kids out there that it is possible, it is not about your race, financial status or background. If you put your mind to it, pray about it and work hard nothing can stand in your way.
- How has the pandemic affected you socially, as an artist and the entertainment industry?
The pandemic has affected me as an artist in a negative way because it came and we lost shows and events. No events means no money. No side it has helped me rediscover myself as an individual and as an artist. The music industry has grown since the pandemic and the new kids on the block are really raising the bar and as an artist who’s been in the game for a while I must say I am really proud of the direction we are heading.
- Any 2021 Goals you plan to achieve?
We are working on a couple of music videos, with one already out. My most anticipated EP new Skool wave is dropping this year, fans should stay tuned on my social media @lyrikalbusta across all platforms.
