Today we celebrate King Terry for raising the bar 23 feet high. That’s Jordan status mate. Not only having more than a decade in the game, King Terry still pushes envelop and comes back with a bang!

The Hip hop guru recently released his new song  titled ‘’The RealTRO’’. if you haven’t heard it yet, bruh you need to check it out, things just got real, dude ain’t here to play witchu. King Terry is no stranger to Eswatini music scene, has successfully launched his music making the top 20 charts in Eswatini. He has won multiple awards including MTN SWAMA song of the year.

He shares a few moments with us and speaks about the inspiration behind his new song, surviving Covid and overcoming depression.

  1. For those who don’t know King Terry’s music, how would you describe your music?

I don’t have a description, however from now it will be REAL, honest and personal. I’m a perfectionist and I work on every element so I really don’t know how to box myself.

  1. In your new song you recently released, what has motivated you to write and express yourself through the song?

Well Covid-19, I almost died, fortunately that’s not how my story ends. I realized I would die without having told my story, inspired anyone to heal and be able to understand themselves.

  1. What is the best advice someone has ever shared to you?

No one cares.

  1. In the song you talk about overcoming depression. What steps did you take towards winning that battle?

I started going to church and therapy. I also started facing issues head on, both approaches are long processes, if you are serious about them, and they are ongoing.im not completely out of the woods yet but I am working on it.

  1. You mention in the song about how you have had more loses. How do you keep yourself motivated even after you have you have lost a number of times?

It comes down to the ‘’why’’ of your journey. My ‘’why’’ is, I was born to do this, it feels right, so I use those as learning curves, it’s all in the comeback.

  1. You talk about your mother and how she doesn’t see success in the career path you chose. If you were to advise parents who have children who want to grow and be artists or anything, what advice would you give them about supporting choices?

I will speak on having a child that is creative. Creative FEEL, their emotions are heightened, exaggerated if you will. Do as much research on the career path they choose. Listen to them and try your best to support them. Refrain from frustrating them with your vision for their lives.

  1. What is the one thing that has frustrated you the most about the attitude that this country has had towards supporting local music and artists?

I’m not one to complain about support, because once you package something well and represent it with utmost convenience to the right people they will support it for their own benefit. I have  three sold out shows to my name, sold out merch line and many other tested fields. So I know what support looks like. It’s all in the packaging and selling under the right circumstances.

  1. You also touch on relationships with other artists. What message were you trying to communicate with them in the song?

I’m not communicating anything. I am merely telling a story, how disappointing that they never saw me as a deserving artist.

  1. You are a Covid-19 survivor, what words of encouragement would you share with those going through the same scare?

Don’t be scared, you have a chance, follow the instructions from your doctor also take natural remedies. Do not give in to fatigue, eat, stay hydrated and you will win.

  1. So what’s next for King Terry?

The album, RESET.
