Even with the serious allegations made against the media personality by estranged husband Mohale Motaung, it is business as usual for the Idols SA judge. Tweeps are furious as Metro FM promoted their popular segment ‘Ask A Man’, using Somizi and the Naked DJ’s pictures. Social media users are comparing this situation between Somizi and Mohale, to that of Outsurance’s Katlego Maboe and they want the same treatment he got.
Last year October, Katlego’s dirty laundry got exposed by his then-girlfriend and baby mama Nicole. He got fired for being an abuser and cheater who allegedly gave her a life-threatening STD which apparently prevents her from having more children in the future.
Obviously, Katlego rebutted the allegations and apologized for them but he lost gigs after. Award nominations were withdrawn and he got canceled by mainstream media.
That is the same action tweeps demand towards Somizi Mhlongo; arguing that Metro FM’s continued association with an alleged abuser is not making the fight against Gender-Based Violence any easier. And over, shows double standards and selective outrage amongst cancel culture.
