In a heartbreaking tragedy, Dorcas ‘Didi’ Lekganyane, a distinguished scientist and climate activist, lost her life to domestic violence at the hands of her partner. The 32-year-old was fatally stabbed at her home in Bramley, Johannesburg.
Didi’s untimely demise is a huge loss for the scientific community, South Africa, and the world at large. Her contributions to climate research and environmental conservation had earned her international recognition, including a place on the Mail & Guardian’s prestigious 200 Young South Africans list.
Dorcas ‘Didi’ Lekganyane, aged 32, was reportedly stabbed to death by her partner in their residence in Bramley, Johannesburg on July 11, 2024.
