Kelly Khumalo is one bold woman! The songstress who expressed her outrage after being snubbed at the Crown Gospel Awards, has taken aim at another award ceremony in KwaZulu-Natal.

Her hit single Esphambanweni features the legendary Gospel singer Hlengiwe Mahlaba from her album The Voice Of Africa. It was nominated at this year’s Crown Gospel Awards ceremony under the Best Gospel Song Award category. She was contending against Tshwane Gospel Choir for their single Imvuselelo, Vusi Nova featuring Dumi Mkokstad for Yibanathi and Nyathi for Baba Ziveze, of which Nyathi came out victorious.

Her latest tweet which seemed to throw shade at the KwaZulu-Natal Entertainment awards, is a product of her snub. She is nominated under the very tough category of Best Female Artist alongside Nomcebo Zikode, Zanda Zakuza, her sister Zandie Khumalo, Babes Wodumo, Holly Rae, Simmy, Cici and Shekinah.

After using up a lot of her time pleading with her fans to vote for her at the Crown awards, she is not interested in doing the same for the KZN Entertainment Awards. When a fan asked if they should vote for her, she discouraged him and told others  to “not waste your money there.”

Kelly feels as though the awards system is rigged, “I know…I’m going to come across as a sore loser and, at this point in time, I actually don’t care. Can someone please balance me ‘Esiphambanweni’ versus ‘Baba Ziveze,” she asked. “Let the followers speak, let the chat, the airplay, the YouTube views, speak. We are being played. Where shall we run to if not the church, because at church we expect nothing but the truth,” she added.

Kelly on Twitter even threw shade at Nyathi saying there is no way his song is better than hers, “Esphambanweni Vs Baba Ziveze? Someone please balance me? I would have been ok with Jehova uzoyigcina impilo yami or Bawo Yiba nathi, Christians do not play with us.”
