This is news that was truly unexpected. Jay Z or Mr Knowles to the Beyhive, recently revealed that his mother Gloria Carter opened up to him about her sexuality. According to Jay, she revealed this a day before he hit the studio to record his latest album, 4:44.
If you have listened to 4:44, probably one of his best albums, he documents his mother’s story through a song titled Smile.
“Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian / Had to pretend so long that she’s a thespian,” Jay-Z raps on the song. “Had to hide in the closet, so she medicate / Society shame and the pain was too much to take.”
Wow! Who would have known?
